COURSE DESCRIPTION

This is a three-unit course Introduction to Psychology. Through a broad coverage of representative areas of Psychology, the course aims at giving the student a clear analysis and treatment of the complex human behavior.   It focuses on man as he behaves and relates with his environment and includes such topics as: Nature and function of the organism, perception, learning, memory, intelligence, emotions, motivation, social psychology, and human personality.

 

COURSE OUTCOMES (CO)

At the end of the course, the students are expected to be able to:

1.   Identify, illustrate and apply the theories, concepts, and skills learned in Introduction to Psychology that will readily equip them in meeting the demands of their daily lives;

2.   Classify and integrate the established principles of the course and the new information related to them that may arise in various ways and from various sources;

3.   Apply the main methods of inquiry of Introduction to Psychology through generating action plans suitable in dealing with real world problems;

4.   Demonstrate critical thinking skills and intensive analysis from the acquired ideas and concepts in a real world setting and;

5.   Differentiate theories and principles in Introduction to Psychology and critique their advantages and limitations.
